Writing in the December 2006 issue of the Assemblies Of God magazine “Joy”, about the growing church in Burundi, Pastor David Littlewood states: “One of the greatest needs of a young growing church is Bible teaching. Many of the pastors I have met have had little education and have no access to the wealth of Christian literature that is our heritage in the West. This leads to an enviable simplicity of faith, but also to a lack of understanding concerning many of the basics of the Christian faith that we take for granted. It also makes the church highly susceptible to error and heresy.” He goes on to explain that one of the AOG churches, in the capital Bujumbura, has set up a Bible school to “help in this urgent area of need.” One of the main reasons for setting up Sovereign World Trust was to tackle this particular need. Our prayer has always been that the contents of the books would touch and impact on the lives of those who receive them. Over the years we have received tens of thousands of testimonies from our Pastors to that effect. Indeed the following extracts show that, for one reason or another, our books are virtually the only source of sound Christian teaching that is available to many of them. |

| “Thank you for the books Sovereign World Trust is sending us. We are finding them so helpful as there is very little spiritual material worth reading for all those who are coming to the Lord around here. The people who disciple them usually have great zeal but themselves need mentoring and cannot bring the new believers into places where they are not themselves. The biggest need is to bring new believers to drink and eat of the Lord by themselves daily.” | ![]() |
